7/1-7/2 (Fri-Sat)                     Obon Dance & Festival – Mō’ili’ili Hongwanji Mission

The Mō’ili’ili Summer Fest is a lively event that brings together the community in one of Honolulu’s oldest and most vivacious neighborhoods. Savor a variety of food choices and shop at booths by local retailers. Fun activities for the keiki will be available until 9pm with live entertainment throughout the evening.

7/4 (Mon)            4th of July Celebration

Proudly celebrating 25 years of amazing aerials, the greatest fireworks show in Hawaii takes to the skies once again. Join us at Ala Moana Beach Park for this annual family tradition and make sure to tune in to KSSK for the live soundtrack.

7/4 (Mon)                              Parker Ranch Annual July 4th Horseraces & Rodeo

Big Island ranchers participate in fast-paced horseraces and rodeo events with Parker Ranch cowboys. Ribbon mugging, ranch mugging, dally team roping, Po’o Wai U and more. Keiki activities including roping practice and pony rides. Lots of food and mementos for sale at the Parker Ranch Store booth. Parker Ranch Rodeo Arena, Waimea.

7/4 (Mon)                              Freedom Run / Walk for Epilepsy     

The Epilepsy Foundation of Hawaii provides supportive programs to individuals with seizure disorders, advocacy on behalf of individuals living with epilepsy and their families, and education to the general public on seizure first-aid and epilepsy awareness.

7/4 (Mon)            Fourth Of July Parade & Celebration – Volcano Village

The parade will begin at 9 a.m. at the Volcano Post Office and proceed for one half mile along Old Volcano Road to Cooper Community Center, featuring the Hawaii County Band, floats, antique cars, fire engines, bicycles, horses, and animals in costumes! Music, games, food booths, craft fair and more.

7/4 (Mon)               27th Annual Turtle Independence Day 

On Monday, July 4, 2016 the honu will be gathered at 10:30 am from the Honu Ponds and they will be paraded to the beachfront for the release. A welcome ceremony with a hula performance by Halau Waiau will kick-off the event followed by the release.
This annual celebration honors the honu and helps educate the public about the Hawaiian green sea turtle. Families are invited to join the celebration!

7/9 (Sat)              54th Annual Hawaii State Farm Fair 

The Hawaii State Farm Fair, now in its 53rd year, is an annual event started in 1962 by the Hawaii Farm Bureau Federation (HFBF) as a way to promote awareness of Hawaii’s agricultural and ranching industries.

7/10 (Sun)            2016 Hilo Triathlon (Big Island)

The Big Island is home to the famous World Championship Kona Ironman and Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. The Hilo Triathlon Swim is a 1500 meter clockwise triangular loop in the crystal clear waters off James Kealoha Beach Park in Hilo Hawaii. The Bike course is an out and back 40km ride along the historical Hamakua coast on the Hawaii Belt Road. The Hilo Triathlon Run course is 10km road run at sea level with spectacular ocean views alongside Wai’olena Beach Park, Leleiwi Beach Park, and Richardson Beach Park. You might even catch a glimpse of some spinner dolphins as you run past our black sand beaches.

7/15-8/7 (Fri-Sun)     Calling All Quilters!

Volcano Art Center is inviting all quilters on the Island of Hawaii to its first annual quilt show, July 15 to August 7, 2016 at Volcano Art Center’s Niaulani campus. This year’s show, “Quilts in the Forest, Quilts in the Park,” is dedicated to the centennial celebration of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park (HVNP) as well as that of the National Park Service (NPS). HVNP celebrates its 100th birthday on August 1, 2016 and is sharing the park through a series of special programs for the public all through the year.

7/16-7/17 (Sat-Sun)   39th Prince Lot Hula Festival

The 39th Annual Prince Lot Hula Festival will be continued over two days this year — Saturday, July 16, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday, July 17 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The largest non-competitive hula event in Hawai‘i, the festival is held at spectacular Moanalua Gardens each year to honor Prince Lot Kapuāiwa who reprised the once forbidden hula in the district of Moanalua.

Mangoes make their sweet return to the Moana on Saturday, July 16. Partnering once again with Makaha Mangoes to celebrate our 8th annual “Mangoes at the Moana”. Locals and visitors are invited to join in on the festivities.

7/17 (Sun)                     46th Annual Ukulele Festival

Every July – as welcome as summer itself – Ukulele Festival Hawaii presents the annual Ukulele Festival at Kapiolani Park on Oahu. Families jam the park. Ukulele fans wouldn’t miss it. Tourists follow the sounds of music. The music swirls over the tops of ironwood and monkeypod trees toward Diamond Head. It’s upbeat, infectious, bouncy about surf and sunny days. It’s music you want to dance to or sing to like a beachboy. It embraces everyone who hears it. That’s the irresistible charm of the ukulele.

This year marks the 41st anniversary of the Keiki Hula Competition which was created for youths ranging in ages 6-12 years to honor Hawaii’s Ali’i and last reigning Monarch, Queen Liliuokalani.

7/22 (Fri)                        Koloa Plantation Days

Koloa Plantation Days is held on Kauai’s south shore every year in July. The many ethnic groups that came to Hawaii to work on sugar plantations, and the Hawaiians who welcomed them, are celebrated through music, dance, costumes, and food throughout this ten-day festival.
